Collaboration & Client Care

Another step in the upward direction. Red Rabbit Advocacy now has the capability to help with imputing information into the Coordinated Entry System in order to better serve our homeless community. After having a informational training session with Mr. Jon Mendelson with Central Valley Housing, the explanation of the use of this system is encouraging. It enables us to track the progress and services of our clients in a much more effective manner and allows us the ability to use this information to see what we are actually achieving through our efforts. I am grateful for being a part of this and intend to help my clients get the best accessibility to all resources available to them.

Our client that we were trying to get into shelter was actually able to find space at Gospel Center Rescue Mission for her and her ESA. We picked her up and transported her to the shelter just in time for a really cold night.

My volunteer was able to transport her for me and I went back and picked up her tent and other belongings in her campsite. Today we got her clothes together, picked up her medicine from Walgreens, got her some dog food and dropped it all off for her at the shelter.

My 19 year old client that has aged out of foster care needed some help handling her business today. She and I went to go check into a hotel for a week and then we went to go look at an apartment for her to rent. She really liked it and with her employment, will be able to afford it. I took her application and money order and dropped it off for her. This is the last piece in her reunification with her son from CPS. She has completed all her classes and in Jesus name she will get this apartment so that she can take her little boy home with her before Christmas. I love her very much and it is a beautiful thing seeing her grow and mature before my eyes.

Mary with Showered With Love was an angel today! She contacted me with a bunch of donated hygiene products, snacks and dog food. She also connected us with Podesto’s today and we were able to pick up about 50 pies to distribute to people for the Thanksgiving holiday. Tomorrow morning we will go out and share all of these donations with those living on the streets. Another one of our former clients who was homeless and is now housed helped out by cooking a turkey for us to share. This is the difference in how Red Rabbit Advocacy engages with it’s clients. We truly form a family type connection, a human connection to heal and restore lives. Staying in contact with our clients and making sure they are staying on the right path and not slipping into old habits or needing something and not being able to ask. We are here for the long haul and stay accessible to our clients even after they are housed.

Family Promise of San Joaquin has expanded their capacity and are now able to take on more families. I had a wonderful conversation with the director today and have 3 families referred to apply today. I am praying that they work out for that shelter. It’s a wonderful place, and I love the concept of how it is run, People stay in different churches to sleep and they are then transported to a day center for the duration of the day. Building partnerships with these agencies is of the utmost importance. Someday, in the near future, we hope to have our own facility to provide shelter. I am motivated to do this because there are those that have not felt comfortable going to a shelter, but have said they would be willing to go if Red Rabbit Advocacy had one…. Build it and they will come…. in Jesus name.
